პოეტი და საქართველოს მწერალთა კავშირის აფხაზეთის ორგანიზაციის თავმჯდომარე გენო კალანდია 77 წლის ასაკში გარდაიცვალა. მას 15 აპრილს 78 წელი შეუსრულდებოდა.
გენო კალანდიას ლექსები პერიოდულად იბეჭდებოდა სხვადასხვა გამოცემებში. მისი პირველი კრებული „ცა და ფოთლები” 1967 წელს სოხუმში გამოიცა.
პოეტის 75 წლისთავისადმი მიძღვნილი საიუბილეო საღამო რუსთაველის თეატრში 2015 წელს გაიმართა.
გენო კალანდია სახელმწიფო პრემიის ლაურეატია. მას კვირას, 19 მარტს დაკრძალავენ.
