სამოქალაქო აქტივისტის თამარ მეარაყიშვილის ოკუპირებულ ახალგორში დაკავების ფაქტს სახალხო დამცველი ეხმაურება და დე ფაქტო ხელისუფლებას დაკავებულის დაუყოვნებლივ გათავისუფლებისკენ მოუწოდებს . ასევე, სახალხო დამცველი მოუწოდებს საქართველოს მთავრობას, მიიღოს ყველა ზომა მისი უსაფრთხოების დასაცავად და გასათავისუფლებლად.
განცხადებაში ნათქვამია: „მედიასაშუალებებით გავრცელებული ინფორმაციის თანახმად, ოკუპირებულ ახალგორში დააკავეს ადგილობრივი მკვიდრი, სამოქალაქო აქტივისტი თამარ მეარაყიშვილი, რომელიც ყოველთვის გამოირჩეოდა აქტიური სამოქალაქო პოზიციით და ახალგორის მკვიდრთა უფლებების დასაცავად გამოთქმული კრიტიკული მოსაზრებებით. ამის გამო იგი ბოლო წლებში განიცდიდა ზეწოლას დე ფაქტო ხელისუფლებისაგან, რაც ამა წლის ივლისის თვეში მისი ცხინვალში იძულებით გატაცებით დასრულდა. თამარ მეარაყიშვილის დაკავებას სახალხო დამცველი აფასებს როგორც უკანონოდ თავისუფლების აღკვეთას, სამოქალაქო აქტივისტზე ზეწოლას და მისი გამოხატვის თავისუფლების შეზღუდვას. ეს დაკავება ასევე უნდა შეფასდეს, როგორც მისი იძულება სამუდამოდ დატოვოს ახალგორი “, - აცხადებს სახალხო დამცველი.
