Up before the sun on a brisk Sunday morning with a late-season south swell in the water, Kolohe Andino and crew pile boards and bodies into his truck and the damn thing nearly drives itself to Lowers. It's a San Clemente local routine that Brother has been a part of since he could walk, along with the rest of Lower Trestles' devoted disciples, and at this point it's almost automatic.
However, with a month in Hawaii on the horizon, Andino decided to break north for a change of scenery before leaving town. A few sessions without a crowd, without any competitive chatter, just sunrise-to-sunset ripping with friends over a freshly groomed sandbar that they got all to themselves.
Filmed over the course of two days by Brother's go-to lensmen, Jacob Vanderwork and Pat Stacy, the edit pops with the passion and momentum Andino is building as he heads into the end of the competitive season of the world tour in Hawaii. He already notched a second-place finish at Sunset on his belt, and is riding that energy straight into the Pipe Masters this week on the North Shore of Oahu.
