შინაგან საქმეთა მინისტრი ტელეკომპანია „იბერიაში“ მომხდარ შემთხვევას და დაცვის პოლიციის თანამშრომლის დაჭრის ფაქტს გამოეხმაურა.
„ამ შემთხვევას გარკვეული სპეკულაციები მოყვა. სრული პასუხისმგებლობით მინდა გითხრათ, რომ პოლიტიკურად ნეიტრალური საპოლიციო სისტემა არის ჩვენი უმთავრესი ფასეულობა და რა თქმა უნდა, მსგავს შემთხვევბს, ვისი მხრიდანაც არ უნდა მოდიოდეს ის შესაბამისი რეაგირება მოყვება.“ ეს განცხადება გიორგი გახარიამ საქართველოს პარლამენტში გააკეთა, შინაგან საქმეთა მინისტრის თქმით გამოძიება უკვე დაწყებულია და ჯერჯერობით 126-ე მუხლით მიმდინარეობს, თუმცა შეიძლება გადაკვალიფიცირდეს. მისივე თქმით, სამართალდამცავ ორგანოებს აქვთ ვალდებულება, შეასრულონ თავიანთი მოვალეობა ყველა მოქალაქის წინაშე. „პოლიტიკურად ნეიტრალური საპოლიციო სისტემა არის ქვეყნისთვის ძალზედ მნიშვნელოვანი კომპონენტი’’- განაცხადა გიორგი გახარიამ.
რაც შეეხება დაცვის პოლიციის თანამშრომლის დაჭრის ფაქტს, გიორგი გახარიას ინფორმაციით ეს იყო თვითდაზიანება - „თუმცა კიდევ ერთხელ ვიმეორებ, რომ პროცესი მიმდინარეობს და საბოლოო შეფასებას ჯერ ვერ ვაძლევთ”.
