Team Austria came out on fire from the very start of the first period. Starkbaum once again shon in net as he denied Belarus a single goal.

With this win, Belarus has been relegated for the first time in 14 years, and Austria sees back-to-back IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship appearance for the first time since 2005 and is the first promoted team that manages to stay in the top division since 2008!
