After an exciting start to the UCI XCO World Cup season in Stellenbosch, South Africa in March, racing moves to Albstadt, Germany for the next instalment of this year's World Cup campaign.
Cross-Country Short Track (XCC) is the start of a new dawn for the cross-country discipline on the UCI MTB World Cup calendar. Since the demise of the XC Eliminator, the UCI have been trying to find a format that encouraged competition and is spectator-friendly for those attending the venues where XCO is taking place.
UCI has introduced the Cross-Country Short Track as a new, additional discipline and the Albstadt bike park in Germany hosts the premiere.
Catch up on what happened during the men's and women's short-track races at the UCI MTB World Cup 2018 in Albstadt Germany.
In XCC they may just have found the right elements. The aim of XCC is encourage elite riders to compete with the bait of starting positions on the front two rows of the main XCO race on offer as well as World Cup points that could be critical for the World Cup overall. The top 16 riders at the end of the men's and women's XCC races will be on the front two rows of the XCO. And being on the front two rows of the XCO race gives significant advantage to riders over those further back on the starting line.
