შოტლანდიას დიდი ბრიტანეთისგან დამოუკიდებლობის გამოცხადების შესახებ რეფერენდუმის გამართვა სურს.
შოტლანდიის პირველი მინისტრის, ნიკოლა სტარჯეონის განცხადებით, ის მომდევნო კვირას შოტლანდიის პარლამენტს თხოვნით მიმართავს, ვესტმისტერიდან ლეგალური რეფერენდუმის გასამართად საჭირო 30-ე მუხლის ასამოქმედებლად ნებართვა გამოითხოვონ.
ამ ეტაპზე უცნობია, დართავს თუ არა ნებას დიდი ბრიტანეთის პრემიერ-მინისტრი შოტლანდიას რეფერენდუმის გამართვისთვის.
სამართლებრივად ბრიტანეთს ეს ვალდებულება არ გააჩნია, თუმცა ექსპერტების განცხადებით, პოლიტიკური თვალსაზრისით, უარის თქმა ტერეზა მეისთვის საკმაოდ რთული იქნება.
ნიკოლა სტერჯენს რეფერენდუმის გამართვა 2019 წლის გაზაფხულამდე სურს, სანამ დიდი ბრიტანეთი ევროკავშირს ოფიციალურად გამოეყოფა.
